Transfer passengers
The air terminal of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is fully equipped for the convenience of passengers.
Reference information
Transfer transportation is the transportation of a passenger and their luggage from the departure airport to the destination airport by flights of one or more airlines with an intermediate transfer at the transfer airport — Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
Transfer luggage refers to registered luggage transported by one or more carriers, with transfer from one aircraft to another at the transfer airport.
Through check-in is the ability to check in a passenger and luggage at the departure airport to the final destination.
At Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport, special baggage handling technologies are applied during passenger transfers within the Russian Federation only if the passenger and their baggage have been correctly processed at the departure airport. Not all airports have the capability to process transfer passengers. Please confirm at check-in at the departure airport whether your baggage has been checked through to your final destination.
Passengers who have their baggage checked through to their final destination do not need to claim it at the transfer airport. The baggage is transferred between flights by airport services.
If your baggage is checked only to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, you will need to claim your baggage in the arrivals hall of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport and proceed with it to the check-in counter for your connecting flight in the check-in area.
Entry Screening Rules
- Place your baggage and hand luggage on the x-ray machine conveyor belt, having first removed electronic devices and placed them in a special tray. Be prepared to turn on and show each electronic item to the screening officer.
- Remove all metal objects, keys, packs of cigarettes, and mobile phones from your pockets and place them on the table or in the tray.
- Unzip your outerwear.
- Walk through the stationary metal detector frame. Attention! Proceed only when instructed by the screening officer.
Please note! During the screening procedure, an aviation security officer may approach you and ask some clarifying questions.

We recommend completing online check-in for your flight on the airline’s website in advance. Upon arrival at the airport, check in your baggage at your flight’s check-in counter. Do not forget to print your boarding pass.
If you are checked through to your final destination and have your boarding pass, upon arrival at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport, follow the «Transfer» signs to the domestic departures hall and wait for your flight.
If you or your baggage are not checked through to your final destination, you must collect your baggage on the first floor of the terminal after arrival, then proceed with check-in and all pre-flight procedures as usual.

Upon arrival at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport, proceed to the baggage claim area to collect your baggage. Then, proceed to the check-in counters on the first floor, complete all check-in formalities, customs, and border control as usual.
