    Baggage is all the items you check in at the flight registration and receive back at the arrival airport.

    -

    Cabin baggage is the items you take with you on the plane. You can bring one piece of carry-on luggage (a bag, backpack, etc.) on board.

    Before boarding, all passengers, their baggage, and carry-on luggage undergo mandatory screening. Make sure that:

    1. The weight of your baggage does not exceed the limit set by the airline;
    2. There are no prohibited items in your baggage and carry-on luggage — you will not be allowed to board with them;
    3. You have taken all necessary items for the waiting time and flight in your carry-on luggage.
    • Net Zero Carbon Emissions Target: We have set an ambitious goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. This means that we will offset any remaining emissions by investing in high-quality carbon offset projects.
    • Energy Efficiency: We are actively exploring opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of our terminal facilities, including upgrading lighting systems, installing energy-saving equipment, and adopting smart building technologies.
    • Renewable Energy: We are committed to increasing the share of renewable energy in our energy mix. We are currently evaluating various renewable energy options, such as solar and wind power, and are working with partners to develop viable implementation plans.
    • Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs): We support the development and use of SAFs, which can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from aviation. We are working with airlines and fuel suppliers to increase the availability of SAFs at our airport.
    • Electrification of Ground Support Equipment (GSE): We are committed to electrifying our GSE fleet, which will reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and improve air quality at the airport.
    • Waste Reduction: We are implementing strategies to reduce waste generation at the source through initiatives such as composting, recycling, and promoting reusable alternatives.
    • Waste Segregation and Recycling: We have implemented a comprehensive waste segregation and recycling program to ensure that all recyclable materials are properly diverted from landfills.
    • Partnerships with Licensed Contractors: We work closely with our licensed contractors and partners to ensure that they adhere to our strict waste management guidelines and best practices.
    • Water Conservation: We are committed to conserving water resources by implementing water-efficient practices across all our operations. This includes installing low-flow fixtures, adopting water-saving technologies, and conducting regular water audits to identify and address leaks.
    • Stormwater Management: We have implemented a comprehensive stormwater management plan to minimize the impact of rainwater runoff on the environment. This includes installing bioswales, rain gardens, and other green infrastructure elements.
    • Water Quality Monitoring: We regularly monitor the quality of our wastewater to ensure that it meets all applicable environmental standards.

    We are proud of our progress in sustainability and are committed to continuous improvement. We believe that businesses have a responsibility to operate in a sustainable manner and are dedicated to setting an example for others in the aviation industry.

    Together, we can create a more sustainable future for aviation!

    AO «South Sakhalinsk Airport» is a key component of the region’s infrastructure. We ensure long-term climate resilience through proactive planning to minimize potential vulnerabilities and risks to operational continuity. We have developed risk thresholds and mitigation measures in the following five key areas:

    • Increased precipitation intensity
    • Rising ambient temperatures
    • Wind speed and direction
